Charlie Kirk’s former audio engineer, Jeff Tretta, returns to Lunatics and Legends for Part 2—and this time, we go much deeper. After our first conversation raised even more questions, we sat back down with Jeff to discuss what he personally witnessed during his two and a half years working behind the scenes on The Charlie Kirk Show and inside Turning Point USA. Jeff opens up about the influence of major donors, the pressure surrounding donor meetings, the culture inside TPUSA, Charlie Kirk’s inner circle, and the people Jeff describes as Charlie’s “handlers.” We also dive into the unanswered questions surrounding Charlie and Erika Kirk, Candace Owens’ relationship with Charlie, why Jeff says he never saw Candace around during his time there, and the growing speculation surrounding what was happening behind the scenes. People demanding privacy and restraint for a man who opened fire on his own soldiers in the name of jihad have suddenly discovered principles they never applied when a political opponent was gunned down in front of a crowd. The same voices that treated one killing as a regrettable but understandable reaction now treat the lawful end of a court-martialed murderer as some unique cruelty. Charlie Kirk stood in the open, answering questions, and was shot in the neck while cameras rolled. No one rushed to shield the public from the footage or lecture the country about dignity. The difference in reaction tracks who was targeted, not any consistent rule about what the public should be allowed to see. A firing squad at the scene of the crime is not spectacle for its own sake. It is the state finally carrying out a sentence that sat unfinished for more than a decade, and it is hard to pretend the outrage is about process rather than the identity of the condemned.
